Colin Rose was born near London although he has lived in the North of England for a long time. The earliest paintings were influenced by music theory and that has always remained important, this has led his work away from current stylistic shifts and ticks. He doesn't aim to produce an art of instant gratification; He works quietly and slowly; Give it time and it might grow to like you!
The Austrian writer Robert Musil has always been a major influence, yet Colin is happy to know he could rebuild the engine of his Tatra, or cook a good dinner!
If you wander around this website you will find a great variety of paintings, Colin never likes being trapped by a surface style. Each work is always an aspect of his central obsessions, style running much deeper.(continue)
