Painting by Colin Rose

What I paint will always depend on some possible recent context; nothing is, to me, what it is; everything is subject to change, in flux, part of a whole, of an infinite number of wholes presumably adding up to a totality that, however, I knows nothing about. So every result shown is only a partial answer, every feeling only an opinion, I never care how something is, only its future possibilities.
I came to music before painting and the influence of music and its theory has always remained central to how I paint. This keeps my work away from current stylistic shifts and ticks. I try not to produce an art of instant gratification. I work quietly and slowly: give it time and it might grow to like you!
Wander around this website and you will also find how to repair a Tatra, cook a Carp, or take a painting holiday in South Bohemia with us. Also you can learn about the Austrian writer Robert Musil who has always been a major influence on me. (continue)
