I was born near London although I have lived in the North of England for a very long time. My earliest paintings are strongly influenced by music theory and that has remained an important aspect that has led my work away from the obvious stylistic shifts and ticks. I don't aim to produce an art of instant gratification. I work quietly and slowly. Give it time and it might grow to like you!
The Austrian writer Robert Musil has always been a major influence, yet I am happy to know I could rebuild the engine of my Tatra, or cook a good dinner!
If you wander around this website you will find a great variety of paintings, I never like being trapped by a surface style. Each work is always an aspect of my central obsessions, style runs much deeper.(continue)
